BSc ASAR Acc Med Sono (Cardiac) Cardiac Technology (Mayfield)

Elizabeth Dewar is the Clinical Research Manager for the Heart Centre Alfred Hospital and the Alfred and Baker Medical Unit (ABMU) BakerIDI Heart and Diabetes Institute.  Liz completed science degree at Monash University and trained as Cardiac Technologist at The Alfred hospital.  Liz has worked as a Research Cardiac Technologist in both clinical and research settings within the Heart Centre for many years, giving her the expertise to conduct cardiovascular research particularly in echocardiography & carotid imaging, and to manage, oversee and facilitate Baker IDI and Alfred Hospital clinical research projects that operate within the clinical environment of ABMU and the Heart Centre.  

Liz is the ‘Heart Centre Resource Manager’ responsible for approving declarations as part of HREC submissions for all Heart Centre Services provided for research purposes.

Research services include Right heart catheterization with exercise, Tilt table testing, Vein, muscle and fat biopsies, Echocardiography, including Carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) and Carotid plaque assessment, Flow mediated Dilation, Plethysmography, Arterial compliance and Pulse wave velocity techniques, Oxygen consumption testing & Microneurography.
